CEILINGS EDITORIAL

Inspired by the song "Ceilings" by Lizzy McAlpine, which tells the story of a love/relationship that can be interpreted by many as a product of imagination, a fantasy, of the main character.

The goal was to illustrate, in a subjective way, the chorus of the song:

“But it’s over

Then you’re drivin’ me home

And it kinda comes out as I get up to go

You kiss me in your car

And it feels like the start of a movie I’ve seen before

But it’s not real

And you don’t exist

And I can’t recall the last time I was kissed

It hits me in the car

And it feels like the end of a movie I’ve seen before

Before”

And the feelings of melancholy, momentary happiness, and loneliness provoked by this situation.

We begin the work with our main character alone in the field in the photo, searching for that loved one. We go through a moment of momentary happiness when she creates her bubble of imagination, where everything must be real, like a movie she's already seen.

We realize that none of it is real, that the loved one never existed, she can't even remember the last time she was kissed, she just wants to escape.

And finally, we return to the beginning, to the feeling of loneliness, that everything is as it was before, as it always has been.
